Three Freshmen Pace Men's Cross Country at OVC Championship



CHARLESTON, Ill. --- A trio of freshmen, Larry McNary, Marcus Abdul and Thomas Mosley, paced the Tennessee State men’s cross country team at the Ohio Valley Conference Championship on Saturday at the Panther Trail Course as TSU took 12th place overall.

McNary earned 89th place with an 8K time of 28:09.3 to cap his freshman cross country season. Abdul clocked in at 29:17.9 for 93rd with Mosley taking 96th place in 30:00.0.

Eastern Kentucky won the team championship with 36 points followed by Morehead State in second (59 points) and Belmont in third (94 points).

  • Freshman Larry McNary was TSU’s top finisher for the fourth meet in a row.
  • Freshman Thomas Mosley, who took third among TSU runners on the day, was running in his second career collegiate meet.
  • The Flying Tigers placed 12th at the OVC Cross Country Championship for the sixth year in a row.


  • Saturday marked the end of the 2017 cross country season for TSU.
  • TSU unofficially opens the indoor track and field season on Nov. 15 with the Blue and White Meet at the Gentry Center.
  • The first official indoor track and field meet of the year is the Vanderbilt Opener on December 2.
