Tigers and Tigerbelles Close Out Regular Season at Chattanooga

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – After a break in the schedule, the cross country team will hit the course Saturday for the Front Runner Invitational hosted by the University of Chattanooga.

The teams return to action for the first time since the Rhodes College Cross Country Invitational on Sept. 28.

Sophomore Prince finished the 6k course at Shelby Farms with a time of 24:59 good enough to place 58th in the 162 runner field.

Junior Theodore Nicholson paved the way for the Tigers with a time of 29:57 on the 8k men’s course.

Overall Prince and the Tigerbelles finished 21st out of 24 teams at the meet. Senior Breanna Adams (28:11) would be the second TSU runner to cross the line. The next three Tigerbelles would finish close together with Sophomore Michelle Bradley leading that group with a time of 29:09 followed by junior Diera Taylor (29:11) and sophomore Jasmine Ownes (29:12). 

The Tigers would finish 22nd out of 27 teams in the invitational. After Nicholson, junior Adrian McDaniel would be the second best TSU finisher with a time of 30:20. Followed by Quamel Prince (31:27), Jaheel Michael (31:54), Jalon McCutcheon (33:55), Jason Griffin (38:25) and Jakeena Gutherie (38:30).

Saturday’s meet will be the final one before the OVC Indoor Championships, hosted by Morehead State on Saturday Nov. 2 beginning at 8 a.m.
