Cross Country Concludes Season at OVC Championships

MOREHEAD, Ky. – Sophomore Oteia Prince led the way at the OVC Cross Country Championships with a 53rd place finish, posting a personal best time. On the men’s side it was freshman Quamel Prince leading the charge with a 73rd place showing.

Oteia Prince crossed the line with her best time of the year at a 5k course finishing the course in 20:00.16. The sophomore shaved over 33 seconds off her previous season’s best which she set at the Commodore Classic in September.

Quamel Prince led the Tigers’ pack with a time of 28:58.40 on the 8k course.

The TIgerbelles had three other runners post their season’s best times. Leading the pack was Jasmine Owens who finished with a time of 23:24.34. Junior Diera Taylor (23:24.48) and freshman Asianna Cannon (25:45.78) joined Owens to post their season’s bests on the Morehead State course.

On the men’s side four Tennessee State runners logged their best 8k time of the year. Adrian McDaniel dropped over 30 seconds off his previous time finishing the course in 29:25.51. The three other Tigers to improve their times were: freshman Jahleel Michael (31:50.25) and sophomores Jalon McCutcheon (32:37.29) and Jason Griffin (34:20.56).

Overall, both teams placed 12th in the meet. The race concluded the cross country season for the Tigers and Tigerbelles, with both groups now transitioning to the winter track season.
