XC Competes at TTU Invitational on Friday

Friday, Sept. 30 will mark the third competition for the Tennessee State University men's and women's cross country teams as they compete at the TTU Invitational in Cookeville.

The meet will be held at the Southern Hills Golf Course with the men's 8K event beginning at 3 p.m. The women's 5K starts approximately at 4 p.m.

Five teams will be in competition at the meet including host Tennessee Tech and Ohio Valley Conference foe Jacksonville State. Alabama A&M and Chattanooga are also slated to participate in the competition.

The Flying Tigers and Tigerbelles are returning after a week hiatus.

Junior Chris Hobbs led TSU at the Commodore Classic with a run of 29:03.30 in the men's 8K event, earning his sixth consecutive top-finish for the Flying Tigers. Following Hobbs was freshman Desmond Trice with a time of 29:49.00.

Freshman Leah Carr earned her second consecutive top-finish, running 22:31.20 at the Commodore Classic 5K. Charita Harris followed with a finish of 22:35.30.
