Jy'lan Washington Signs First Professional Contract

NASHVILLE --- The first of head coach Brian "Penny" Collins' singees, local product Jy'lan Washington, has signed his first professional contract to play overseas for BC Rustavi of Georgia. 

Washington finished his first and final season with the Tigers after transferring from Louisiana Tech and sitting out his first year due to transfer rules.

The Smyrna, Tennessee, native played in 25 games for Big Blue, starting 22, averaging 10.5 points and 5.3 rebounds in 23 minutes of action per game. Washington shot 78.4 percent from the charity stripe, finishing the season with 10 perfect games from the free-throw line.

He finished the season leading the Ohio Valley Conference in three-point field goal percentage, averaging 53.8 percent from beyond the arc and third in the league in field goal percentage.

Washington led the Tigers in blocked shots with 26, scored double-digits in 14 matchups and had a career game versus Murray State posting a double-double, 24 points, 12 rebounds, adding an assist and two blocks. He finished the season with three double-doubles overall.
