NASHVILLE --- Tennessee State men’s basketball redshirt seniors Tahjere McCall (Philadelphia, Pa.) and Wayne Martin (Brooklyn, N.Y.) continued to gain attention for their performance in 2016-17 by earning BOXTOROW First Team All-America accolades on Monday. BOXTOROW highlights the excellence of coaches and student-athletes from Historically Black Colleges and Universities.

The two-time Ohio Valley Conference Defensive Player of the Year, McCall moved up to BOXTOROW’s First Team after earning Third Team All-America accolades a season ago. McCall put up 14.3 points, 5.1 assists and 5.0 rebounds per game on the year while setting the program’s single-season steals record with 76. For his efforts during the 2016-17 season, McCall has also earned First Team All-OVC and NABC All-District 19 Second Team.

One of the most productive players in the OVC, Martin led the Tigers in points (14.4 ppg) and rebounds (9.2 rpg). The Brooklyn, N.Y. native was among the league leaders with 10 double-doubles while scoring in double figures 24 times on the season. Martin was named Second Team All-OVC and NABC All-District 19 Second Team.
