NASHVILLE, Tenn. – With five games left in the season, the Tennessee State University men’s basketball team will host Eastern Kentucky University on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. at Gentry Center.
The Tigers (5-21, 2-9 OVC) were tied with the Colonels (15-9, 7-4 OVC) with 0:24 left in the game a week ago before the Colonels scored five-straight points off of free throws to win. TSU fought back from 17 points down in the game.
TSU will look to put Thursday’s loss at Tennessee Tech behind them. The Golden Eagles cruised to a 71-52 win over the Tigers as they held Big Blue to 35 percent shooting. TTU also out-rebounded TSU 44-32 while forcing 20 TSU turnovers.
The Tigers have not won a game on the road this season (0-15).
EKU took ahold of first place in their last game as they beat Morehead State 69-57. Eric Stutz scored 25 points as the win, coupled with the Belmont loss to Jacksonville State, put them above the rest of the East division OVC teams.
EKU leads the all-time series 29-25.
This game is the first of the three remaining home games for the Tigers.
The second meeting between the two schools in seven days will take place as part of a doubleheader at the Gentry Center. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. but will officially begin 30 minutes after the conclusion of the women’s game against the Lady Colonels.
