Tigers Welcome Eagles to Gentry, Monday

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Tennessee State University men’s basketball team will take on Morehead State University on Monday night at Gentry Center beginning at 7:00 p.m.

The Tigers (5-23, 2-11 OVC) dropped their matchup with the Eagles (12-16, 7-6 OVC) last time around in Morehead. They will look to get back on the winning track with just three games remaining in the season.

Morehead State won 72-57 earlier this month at home over TSU. Karam Mashour (21 points) won a narrow post battle with Christian Mekowulu (20 points) while also grabbing 14 rebounds for a double-double. All but one Eagle who played scored.

TSU comes into the game off their 16th road loos of the season. This one came at Jacksonville State 55-50 as the Gamecocks outscored the Tigers 8-2 in the final minute of gameplay.

Demontez Loman played well, scoring 11 points, grabbing eight boards, and blocking three shots in 30 minutes of play.

Meanwhile, the Eagles will be playing for the first time in nine days. Their last game was a 58-57 loss to Belmont at the Curb. Mashour had another double-double, 12 points and 13 rebounds, in that game.

Mashour has been the go-to guy for Morehead State in OVC play. He is averaging 14 points and eight rebounds in their 13 games. He has helped lead the Eagles to the conference’s top rebounding margin at +4.9.

Game time is slated for 7:00 p.m. at Gentry Center. This game was originally scheduled for last Thursday, but winter weather pushed it back to Monday. This is the second to last home game of the season for the Tigers.
