Tigers Complete First Practice of the Season

Nashville, Tenn. - Head Coach John Cooper and the Tennessee State University men's basketball team opened the 2011-12 season with the first team practice on Friday evening at the Gentry Center.

Several fans were in attendance to watch the Tigers take part in their first team activity of the year. The team went through several drills during the two hour practice. The Big Blue is just 18 days away until an exhibition with Trevecca Nazarene on Nov. 1.

"This is the first day and there is certainly a lot of excitement," noted Cooper. "One of the main things is that we get all of our freshmen and new guys on the court and we try to teach them to be good listeners and to concentrate. I am looking for if we are concentrating and giving maximum effort."

Many of the preseason prognostications are predicting the Tigers to finish in the upper echelon of the Ohio Valley Conference this season.

Robert Covington was named preseason All-Conference by and College Sports Madness. Senior Kenny Moore also earned preseason distinction by being named second team All-Conference by College Sports Madness.

TSU officially starts the 2011-12 season on Friday, Nov. 11 when the Tigers travel to play the Saint Louis Bilikens. The Tigers open the home portion of the schedule against Fisk on Wed., Nov. 16.

Season tickets for the 2011-12 campaign is $80 for adults and children. A single men's game and double header ticket is $10 and a single women's game ticket is $8 for adults.
