Robinson, Smith and Houston Lead Tigers in OVC Win

Cape Girardeau, Mo. - Gerald Robinson, Jr. scored 19 of his 21 points in the second half to help lead the Tigers (3-4, 1-1) to their first OVC win of the season defeating Southeast Missouri (2-6, 0-2) in the Show Me Center, 83-72.

Robinson finished with the game-high 21 points, shooting 6-of-17 from the field and 9-of-10 from the free-throw line. Parker Smith shot 5-of-9 from three-point range scoring 16 points.

Jerrell Houston tallied his second double-double of the season scoring 15 points and pulling in a game-high 11 rebounds. Darius Cox added 13 points with eight rebounds and Stephen Evans contributed 10 points and six boards.

TSU shot 44 percent from the field and 79 percent from the free-throw line.

The Tigers trailed the Redhawks for much of the first half tying the game twice at 16 (7:09) and at 27 (1:59). Houston led all scorers into the break with nine points while pulling in eight boards. TSU shot 33 percent from the floor including 10 points in the paint to conclude the half.

Early in the second half, the Tigers took the lead, 31-30, with a Robinson jumper. The Tigers extended their lead going on a 19-10 run at the 17:11 mark. The Tigers held the Redhawks scoreless for nearly two minutes with 12:43 remaining. Smith nailed three consecutive tree-point baskets scoring 15 points in five minutes to help the Tigers stretch the lead 65-54 with 6:18 left.

The Redhawks crawled within nine points behind two Johnny Hill free throws. Hill led SEMO with 19 points. The Tigers shot eight-of-eight from the line under a minute remaining to seal the win.

The Tigers will remain on the road when they head to Normal, Ala. to face non-conference foe Alabama A&M on December 14th. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:00 p.m.
