Tigers Look to Bounce Back Against EIU

TSU vs. EIU Pre-Game Notes

Nashville, Tenn. - The Tennessee State University men's basketball team will play their first Ohio Valley Conference game of the season when they travel to Charleston, Ill. to face the Panthers of Eastern Illinois. The match-up is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. tip-off, Thursday, December 4th. This is the Tigers second away game of the season, losing their first to Loyola (Md.) back on November 16th.

The Tigers (2-3) will look to bounce back after dropping their last game when they hosted cross town rivals, Belmont University.

Sophomore Gerald Robinson, Jr. leads the team in scoring with 22.0 points per contest. Robinson is also ranked sixth in the nation and second in the OVC in points per game. Robinson will look to get off to a stronger start after tallying five points in the first -half against Belmont. He finished below his season average with 10 points.

With three games played on the season, senior Jerrell Houston is averaging 17 points and seven rebounds per game. Houston is shooting over 50 percent from the floor with one double-double on the season.

The Tigers defeated EIU in both meetings last season and lead the all-time series, 17-15.  The Tigers defeated the Panters in their last meeting, 79-72, on January 19, 2008.

The trip is the first of seven straight road games for the remainder of December.
