The Tennessee State University Tigers have completed their tentative 31-game 2009-10 Men’s basketball schedule which will feature eleven strong out-of-conference contests. The Tigers will play their regular eighteen game Ohio Valley Conference schedule and fourteen home games.
The Tigers’ out-of-conference schedule features teams from the Southeastern Conference (Vanderbilt), the Metro Atlantic Conference (Sienna), the Mid America Conference (Northern Illinois), two teams from the Big Ten (Northwestern, Iowa), two teams from the Big 12 (Iowa State, Oklahoma State), two from the Southwestern Athletic Conference (Miss. Valley State, Alabama A&M), and two from the Atlantic Sun (Kennesaw State, Belmont).
TSU’s season will open with exhibition games against Fisk and Trevecca Nazarene before host Sienna in their season opener. The rest month of November will see the Tigers travel north for games in the Chicago area with games at Northern Illinois and four games in the Chicago Invitational Tournament facing Northwestern, Iowa State, Kennesaw State and Mississippi Valley State. TSU is scheduled to play in Nashville at Belmont University to close out the month of November.
In December, the Tigers open their OVC schedule hosting Eastern Illinois and Southeast Missouri. A trip to Oklahoma State is scheduled before a home game versus Alabama A&M. The remainder of December has TSU playing at Vanderbilt, Iowa and Detroit-Mercy.
January will see TSU begin quest for an OVC championship with a full conference schedule, only playing an ESPNU Bracket Buster game on February 20th against an opponent to be determined.
The OVC Tournament will be played March 2-6 at campus sites and in Nashville, Tennessee.
