Tigers Host Jacksonville State

Nashville, Tenn. - Following the women's match-up, the Tigers (5-12, 3-5 OVC) are looking to snap a three-game losing streak. Last time out, TSU dropped a heartbreaker to the OVC's number one ranked team, Austin Peay State, 91-87, last Saturday in the Gentry Center. The series between the Tigers and Gamecocks is even at five apiece. Last season, the teams split the meetings, 1-1, with TSU winning the last match-up, 88-77.  

The Tigers are led in scoring by Gerald Robinson, Jr. (17.7 ppg), Jerrell Houston (13.7 ppg) and Darius Cox (10.4 ppg, 7.5 rpg). TSU will look to another big peformance from reserve, Parker Smith (10.4 ppg), who scored 31 points in the loss. As a result from his career-high performance, Smith was named OVC Freshman of the Week. The Tigers are shooting 44 percent from the field, shooting over 50 percent in two of their last four games.

Under first year head coach, James Green, Jacksonville State (8-8, 2-5 OVC) is on a four game skid, losing their last game to UT Martin at home, 92-73. The Gamecocks come in with four players averaging double-digits. Jeremy Bynum (11.6 ppg), Jonathon Toles (11.4 ppg), Nick Murphy (11.0 ppg) and Brandon Crawford lead a team that averages 73 points a game.  

Next up, both teams will host Tennessee Tech in conference play, Saturday, Jan. 24. The women's game is slated for a 5:30 p.m. tip-off followed by the men.
