NASHVILLE --- Tennessee State expanded its 10-point lead to roll past Morehead State 76-49 in the Tigers' Ohio Valley Conference opener Monday night in the Gentry Center. TSU improves to 3-6 overall and 2-1 in the OVC with the victory. The visiting Eagles fall to 1-10 and 0-5. The game was delayed more than 30 minutes at the 4:21 mark in the second half due to the lights in the Gentry Center going out. Wayne Arnold tallied 13 of his game-high 19 points in the opening half as the Tigers built a 38-28 lead. Kareem Grant scored 16 and Reiley Ervin added 15 for the Tigers. TSU held a 48-24 rebounding advantage. Clarence Matthews had 18 boards and just missed a double-double with nine points. The Tigers built their largest lead at 73-45 with a minute left to play. The game had five early lead changes before TSU opened up a double-digit lead. Morehead State suffered its 10th straight defeat. Shaun Williams led the Eagles with 14 points. TSU shot 47 percent (26-55) from the floor and limited Morehead State to 30 percent shooting (15-50) for the game.
