NASHVILLE --- "Midnight Explosion" returns to Tennessee State University to signify the start of basketball practice for the men's and women's basketball teams. A full slate of entertainment has been scheduled beginning at 10 p.m. in Kean Hall. Doors will open at 9:50 p.m. The official welcome will get the night's activities underway and registration will begin for the different contests to be held during the night. Among the prizes to be given is a pair of basketball season tickets. Among the events will be performances by the TSU cheerleaders, dance squads, and Tiger Gems. There will be a slam-dunk contest, 3-point shooting contest and several giveaways. Both teams will be introduced. At midnight, the teams can officially begin practice. The men's team will hold an intrasquad game. Thee is no admission charge to the event. Both the Tigers and Lady Tigers are under the direction of new head coaches who will be leading the programs this season. Cy Alexander coaches the men's team while Sharon Allen is the new leader of the Lady Tigers.
