NASHVILLE --- Tennessee State will make the short trek to Lipscomb University Thursday night to play the Bisons in Allen Arena. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. Thursday (Dec. 5) in the new facility on the Lipscomb campus.
For Tennessee State, the Tigers will look get back on the winning track heading into a break of almost two weeks from game action. TSU will break for final exams and will resume their schedule Dec. 18 in a game at Morris Brown in Atlanta.
The Tigers showed fight, but cam up short Monday night in a second half rally against visiting Oral Roberts University. ORU had come into the Gentry Center with a three-game winning streak that included impressive wins over Arkansas and Wichita State.
After spotting the visitors a 14-point lead in the second half, the Tigers fought back to cut the lead to four points on five different occasions, the last at 73-69 at the 1:40 mark of the second half. However, the Tigers were unable to score the rest of the way as ORU sealed the win.
TSU sophomore Roshaun Bowens leads the Tigers in scoring at 16.3 ppg after four games. Junior guard Garrett Richardson is at 13.0 ppg while Josh Cooperwood scores 12.3 ppg. Arvid Caldwell leads the Tigers in rebounding at 8.0, but will look to avoid foul trouble after fouling out in three of the four contests.
The Bisons are in a five-game homestand and are 1-4 overall for the season. Lipscomb was hobbled by a slow start in a 79-73 loss to Indiana University-Fort Wayne Monday night. The Bisons are led by Chad Hartman who averages in double figures in both scoring and rebounding at 13.6 ppg, and 10.4 rpg, respectively.
