NASHVILLE --- Former Tennessee State offensive Lineman Chidi Okeke has signed a free agent contract with the Washington Redskins.
“When God says yes, no one can say no,” Okeke said. “It means a lot to me, my family, loved ones, my nation Nigeria and my dad, who passed away. I know he is proud of me wherever he is now. I can’t thank God enough for making a poor kid from Nigeria great. I’m grateful.”
Okeke anchored the Tiger offensive unit which ranked 20th in the country in passing and 31st in total offense. He was one of only two linemen to start and play in all nine contests. Okeke was an All-Ohio Valley Conference First Team selection and was named to the Phil Steele All-OVC First Team after leading a unit to a 105 yard-per-game increase from a year ago, averaging 431.3 yards.
The Anambra, Nigeria native , at the Tennessee State Pro Day, displayed a 5.06 second 40-yard dash and a 110 inch (9’2”) broad jump placing him in the top 15 among all offensive linemen at this year’s NFL Combine.
