Zita Named Phil Steele Freshman All-American

NASHVILLE --- Tennessee State kicker Antonio Zita was named to the Phil Steele 2018 FCS Freshman All-America Team. Zita capped off his rookie campaign by earning a spot on the third team after scoring 64 points despite the Tigers only playing nine games, losing two games to weather cancellations.

Zita finished 10th in the nation in field goal percentage at .857 (12-of-14) and was second for first year kickers, first out of all true freshmen. The Fayetteville, Tenn. native finished 17th in FCS play, third of all freshmen, averaging 1.33 field goals per game.

Zita scored double digit points in five games, accounting for 10 against Bethune-Cookman and at Austin Peay. Zita finished with 11 points on three occasions, the first at Eastern Illinois, again at Tennessee Tech and in the season finale against UT Martin. The 11 point games tied Zita for seventh best in a single game for a kicker at Tennessee State.
