Tiger Camp 2017: Day 2

--- The Tennessee State football team received some relief on day two of camp as cloud cover and a slight breeze made practice more bearable. The temperatures reached 93 for the second consecutive practice, but the day was more comfortable.

The Tigers' second practice saw both units cut down on miscues. The Big Blue will look to continue its progress on Friday at 10:45 a.m. as they put on shells for the first time.

Redshirt-junior, defensive back Lakhalon Holland
- On how day two unfolded
“Actually, everything went perfectly. I’m still learning the defense and still have a few things to work on. I want to build on my alignment, my assignments and taking the coaches instructions.”

Redshirt-junior, defensive end Marvin Maddox
- On the teams second practice
“Everything went smooth, we are just building off of day one trying to correct our mistakes and get better every day.”

- On how to improve
“We need to go back and dissect the film from today. We’ll go over our mistakes and make those corrections.”

- On the weather effected practice
“The tempo was a lot better today. Yesterday, it was the first day of camp and our adrenaline was rushing. It was hot, but we got the job done.”

Junior, tight end Mahlon Medley
- On how practice is progressing
“Everything is going well. There was a lot of intensity. It wasn’t as hot today and everyone picked it up. We’re installing pretty quickly. We’re moving pretty fast.”

- On the next step to close out week one
“Just increase the tempo, decrease the mistakes and try to get better. We’re just trying to get better every day.”

Redshirt-sophomore, running back Arkeem Granger
- On practicing for the first time in over a year
“It’s going pretty well. I just came back from an ACL injury, so right now I’m just taking it a day at a time. But, it’s going well. Everyone is doing their jobs and taking it one day at a time.”

- On the next step of acclimation
“I need to work on getting more comfortable with my knee since I came off of injury. I just need to get more comfortable with that and stop second guessing myself and dominate on the field.”

- On today’s practice
“It was way better than yesterday. Since it was cool, everybody was cool and focused on alignment and assignment and technique.”
