Ackerman-Carter, Smith Named to CFPA Watch Lists

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - O'Shay Ackerman-Carter and Patrick Smith have been named to the College Football Performance Awards (CFPA) Watch List for 2015. Ackerman-Carter is in the running for the FCS National Freshman Performer of the Year, while Smith is in the category for FCS All-Purpose Performer of the Year.

Ackerman-Carter has started six games as a redshirt-freshman for the Tigers with a 134.6 Efficiency Rate while completing 88-of-150 (58.7 percent) for 1,058 yards, 10 touchdowns and four interceptions. The freshman watch list includes twelve quarterbacks, eleven running backs, six wide receivers, two placekickers, and one defensive lineman.

Smith has totaled 933 yards on 47 receptions and has returned 13 punt returns for 117 yards. The redshirt-sophomore has posted six plays of 50 yards or more this season. The all-purpose watch list includes twenty running backs and twelve wide receivers.

Ackerman-Carter and Smith join junior defensive tackle Rodney Edwards on a CFPA Watch List. Edwards was named to the Defensive Watch List earlier this month.

All FCS players are eligible for awards at their respective positions. Players are not preemptively eliminated from consideration.

The award winners will be announced January 13, 2016.
