German named TSWA Offensive Player of the Week
Nashville, Tenn. - Tennessee State quarterback Michael German was named the Tennessee Sports Writers Association offensive football player of the week on Tuesday, for his efforts on October 27.

German led a 12-play, 73-yard game-winning drive in the final minute, tossing a six-yard touchdown pass to A.C. Leonard after time expired in the Tigers’ 22-21 victory over Tennessee Tech. He converted two third downs and one fourth down (running for eight yards) on the game-winning drive.

The Pompano Beach, Fla., native finished the game 24-of-40 for 294 yards and one touchdown. German moved past Brian Ransom (1980-82) for sixth place on the all-time career passing yards list at TSU and also cracked the Top 10 for single-season passing yards, moving past Leon Murray (1999) and Joe Gilliam, Jr. (1971).

The sophomore has helped the Tigers post an 8-1 overall mark this season and a tie for first in the OVC. Tennessee State plays at Murray State this Saturday at 11 a.m.
