Tiger Camp: First Week Nears the End

Nashville, Tenn. - As the first week of fall camp nears the end for Tennessee State, the Tigers offense shined as the Big Blue practiced indoors for the second straight day on Friday morning.

"I liked the intensity in practice," said head coach Rod Reed. "We really got after each other. Overall, the offense got the best of the defense a little bit today."

With two consecutive days inside, coach Reed took advantage of some nice weather and spent the last few minutes of practice outdoors.

"We ran a little bit extra today after practice," Reed said. "We went outside, since we need to get out in the elements and run. Our field is still kind of saturated up top, but we will be out there tomorrow for the scrimmage weather permitting.

The Tigers offense had a couple of big plays, including a 50-yard touchdown from quarterback Michael German to senior wide receiver Travis James.

"We expect that out of those guys," Reed noted. "Mike threw the intermediate routes well today. Offensive line did a pretty decent job of picking up the blitz. A couple of times, we let a guy free, but all-in-all, I thought the offense did a real good job handling what the defense threw at them today."

TSU holds its' first scrimmage of fall camp at 7:30am on Saturday morning. That will also be the Tigers first two-a-day as the Big Blue works on special teams at 5:45pm.

The second week of camp kicks off on Monday at 9:15am. Practice is open to the public. All sessions will be outside at the practice field unless there is inclement weather.
