Tiger Fan Day, New Facility a Hit

The Tennessee State Tigers hosted over 250 fans, signing schedule posters and showing off their new Indoor Practice Facility on Saturday, August 27, 2011.

The event began with TSU head coach Rod Reed introducing the 2011 Tiger football squad, followed by a poster signing session to all in attendance. Tiger paraphernalia was also sold to fans, while children romped on the Indoor Facility's artificial turf.

All persons in attendance gave positive remarks about the new building and several gave interviews to media representatives covering the event.

Tennessee State is becomes only the sixth of 126 NCAA Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) schools with an indoor practice facility. The $3.7M facility is built of structured steel with artificial turf. The 60,750 square-foot building has a 70-foot ceiling with an 80-yard field and an 8,000 square foot area for restrooms and meeting rooms. The facility is equipped with a heating and cooling system.

The Tigers open their 2011 season next Saturday (09/03) when they host the Jaguars of Southern University in the 13th John A. Merritt Classic. Kick-off is set for 6:00p at LP Field.
