Williams Signs Contract with Houston Texans

Former TSU football standout Javarris Williams was signed by the Houston Texans and placed on the practice squad last week.

Williams, who played for TSU from 2005 until 2008, joins his third NFL team after being drafted in seventh round of the 2009 NFL Draft by the Kansas City Chiefs. The running back made four regular season appearances with the Chiefs before being cut in 2010.

The Houston native joined the Seattle Seahawks briefly in 2010 before reaching a free agent contract with the Texans in Aug., 2011. Williams was signed to the Texans' practice squad on Oct. 19.

Williams is TSU's second all-time leading rusher with 4,329 yards during his illustrious four-year career. He holds the school record for most all-purpose yards in a career with 5,117.
