TSU Pro Day Draws Crowd
A host of Tennessee State University football players went through their paces for scouts from more than 20 NFL teams at the TSU Pro Day on campus today (3/20).
The workouts designed to uncover a “diamond in the rough” among unheralded players, were conducted in the Gentry Center and on the turf of Hale Stadium which drew several hundred fans and spectators.
Former TSU players including offensive linemen, Cecil Newton and Cornelius Lewis along with running back Javarris Williams, who already participated in postseason all-star games and the NFL combine added to the mix.
Also on hand, were former players, quarterback Antonio Heffner, wide receivers Brandon Jackson and Chris Williams. Other Tigers who participated were linebacker Maurice Davis, defensive backs Kevin Bledsoe and Ty'Ron Johnson.
Some stellar performances were turned in, notably vertical jumps by DB Kevin Bledsoe (36”) and LB Maurice Davis (33”). The fastest 40 yd dash of the day was 4.49, turned in by defensive back Ty'Ron Johnson.
