Runs for 195 yds - 170 in first half - with 225 yds Total Offense against Tenn Tech. Javarris Williams, Tennessee State's 5-11, 215 lb sophomore running back from Richmond Texas, was tabbed the Ohio Valley Conference Offensive Player of the Week for his play against Tennessee Tech on Saturday, October 14, 2006. Williams rushed for 195 yards and two touchdowns to lead Tennessee State to a 30-20 OVC win over Tennessee Tech. He recorded 170 rushing yards in the first half including a career-long 78 yard TD run. Williams also caught one pass for 30 years to give him 225 total yards against the Golden Eagles. After six games, Javarris is the OVC rushing leader averaging 134.5 yds per game and ranks ninth (9th) nationally. He also leads the OVC in All-Purpose yards with 965 yds (160.8 ypg), and is seventh (7th) nationally. Williams has rushed for over 100 yards in five of six games this year (all I-AA opponents).His only game under 100 yards came against Vanderbilt University of the Southeastern Conference. This is the second time this season Williams has been awarded OVC Offensive Player of the Week (9/03) honors.
