NASHVILLE --- Tennessee State University's new head football coach James Webster has announced that he has received seven letters-of-intent on the first day of the national signing day on Wednesday. (Story, list, capsules included) The new Tiger head coach was named to his new position on Jan. 11. Webster inherits a young team that will feature a lot of returnees next season. "We are excited about the quality of recruits that we signed thus far and this is a great start for us," said Webster. "We got some quality students, quality people, and some really good athletes. "We are a young team and do not have a lot of scholarships. However, we continue to evaluate other prospects that are available." The Tigers signed defensive back James Andrews (6-2, 185) from Nashville's Hunters Lane High School. TSU also signed defensive end Courtney Richardson (6-2, 185) from Memphis Fairley High. TSU signed a pair of kicker/punter combinations in Eric Benson and Micah Streiff, from Texas and Georgia, respectively. Along inking with the Tigers on the opening day were linebacker Nashon Bigham (6-3, 210), quarterback David Pringle (6-5, 210), and tight end Jason Norris (6-2, 245).
