NASHVILLE --- Tennessee State University is continuing its search for a new head football coach with a goal to have the new person in place by early January, according to Teresa L. Phillips, TSU's director of athletics. "We have more than 70 applicants for the position and many are well-qualified," said the TSU athletics director. "It has been a busy process, but we are looking forward to having a new coach named as soon as possible." Since it was announced that James Reese would not return as head coach following the completion of the 2004 season, TSU NCAA faculty representative, Dr. Jesse James, has been serving as director of football operations. James has been overseeing the daily operation of the program. In addition, assistant coaches Rod Reed, Randy Fuller, Shannon Harris, and Brandan Blew were retained from the former staff. ###
