Friday, December 17, 2004
NASHVILLE --- Tennessee State running back Charles Anthony has added more All-America football honors to his list with a trio of selections. Anthony was named to the Associated Press, American Football Coaches, and the Sports Network Division I-AA teams this week. Anthony was earlier tabbed as a Walter Camp Division IAA All-American and finished fifth in the Payton Award voting for the second straight year, which is awarded annually to I-AA top offensive player. The 5-11, 195-pound Orlando, Fla. native led the nation in rushing, gaining 1,739 yards. Anthony scored 14 TD's on the ground and added a pair of receiving TD's among 39 catches for more than 300 yards. Anthony became TSU's all-time leading rusher during his junior season. He finished as the Ohio Valley Conference's second leading rusher with more than 5,000 yards.
