NASHVILLE --- New Tennessee State University head football coach James Webster is set to begin spring practice as the Tigers look for a lot of production in the 15 allowed sessions that will conclude with the Annual Blue-White Spring Game on April 9.
The new Tiger coach and his staff will be looking to evaluate the players in the program. Webster and his staff will also be implementing the new offensive and defensive schemes during the spring drills.
For the Tigers' new head coach, he has three primary goals that he wants to instill in his team.
"We want to teach them how to finish, learn how to compete, and learn toughness," said Webster. "This are three challenging goals, but if we can accomplish there objectives, I think we will be O.K."
The Tigers have been involved in their off-season program ever since returning to campus after Webster was appointed to the position in January.
The 15 allowed practices will be packed into a tight time table. The Tigers will have four practices weekly with the exception of Easter Week. Several of the practices have been scheduled for the nighttime this spring.
About 80 players will go through the practice. The dates for the practices are tentative and could be changed due to the weather.
The Blue-White Game will be held in Hale Stadium at 2 p.m. on April 9 which will officially end spring practice. The team will return to the off-season program for the remainder of the school year.
