NASHVILLE --- The Tennessee State football team will battle a first-year Ohio Valley Conference opponent for the second time in as many weeks and the Tigers will be looking for better results this time around. TSU will make its first trip to Birmingham, Ala. for a game since 1991 when the Tigers take on the Samford Bulldogs. Kickoff is 2:30 p.m for the game that will be televised on Fox SportSouth. The Tigers dropped their first OVC game last week as Jacksonville State came to the Coliseum and handed the Tigers a 34-7. The Tigers could not get untracked after posting the big 27-23 road victory at Tennessee Tech the previous week. Samford is off to a 5-2 and 3-1 start in its first OVC season. The Bulldogs passed the Tigers as the top-scoring team in the conference with a 57-point performance at Tennessee-Martin last week. The game will be Samford's homecoming game. The Tigers will have their own homecoming when they host Eastern Illinois nest week.
