Friday, September 19, 2003
ATLANTA --- The Tennessee State Tigers will look to keep the momentum going when they battle the Florida A&M Rattlers in the 2003 Atlanta Classic on Saturday. A near-capacity crowd is expected to gather in the Georgia Dome for this year's contest. Kickoff is set for 2 p.m. (CDT) for the game which will also be telecast on College Sports Southeast (CSS) and carried by various markets across the nation. TSU carries a 2-1 record into the game. The Tigers bounced back last week to defeat Jackson State 44-14 in the Southern Heritage Classic. The Tigers will be going against a FAMU team that is 1-2 on the young season. The Rattlers move to Division I-A play next season. FAMU lost to Alabama A&M in Detroit, defeated Morgan State, and lost to Florida last weekend. TSU will have a light workout in the Georgia Dome on Friday afternoon. TSU leads the all-time series with the Rattlers, 29-18. The contest will be TSU's final non-conference game. The Tigers begin Ohio Valley Conference play next weekend (Sept. 27) with a home game against Tennessee-Martin in the Coliseum.
