NASHVILLE --- Tennessee State running back Sugar Sanders received the Ohio Valley Conference’s Newcomer of the Week honor for his performance in the Tigers' 26-8 homecoming victory over Tennessee-Martin Saturday night. Sanders rushed for 90 yards on 13 carries and scored the Tigers’ final touchdown of the game in the victory. He also had a pair of catches totaling 20 yards. With the Tigers leading 13-0 in the third quarter, the Tigers put together a 96-yard march on 12 plays to expand the lead to 19-0. Sanders was the workhorse of the drive. He had 55 yards on five carries. Sanders, a 5-11, 220-pound athlete from Coral Springs, Fla., transferred to TSU from the University of Memphis for his final season of eligibility. ###
