NASHVILLE --- The Tennessee State Tigers have begun game week preparations for the 2002 opener. TSU kicks off the campaign next Saturday (August 31) with a trip to play South Carolina State. The Tigers held “Picture Day” Saturday morning at 10 a.m. Later that afternoon, Tennessee State held its final major scrimmage before the season opener and head coach James Reese said his team has several areas to polish during game week. “Our offense has to learn to come and be ready from the beginning,” said Reese. “Defensively, we ran to the ball well and did come up with some big plays.” Special teams play was also at full speed and a kickoff return for a touchdown by Patrick Jenkins was a highlight. The Tigers will practice afternoon and take the mandatory day off on Monday before resuming with preparations on Tuesday. Following the required off day on Monday, the Tigers will work Tuesday through Thursday afternoon and will depart for South Carolina next Friday. ###
