NASHVILLE --- Tennessee State offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach Jon Carr has been named to a similar position at Eastern Illinois, TSU head football coach James Reese has announced. ?Jon was a part of some explosive offenses in his tenure here and he will greatly be missed,? said the TSU head coach James Reese. ?He did a great job with our offense and quarterbacks. Eastern Illinois is getting a very good football coach and we wish him the best.? Carr, a native of Chicago, will be joining an Eastern Illinois program that participated in the NCAA playoffs each of the past two seasons. ?It is a very difficult decision for me to leave Tennessee State University,? said Carr. ? TSU was my first job at the college level and this is an excellent institution. ? I have developed some close relationships among the coaches and administrators. I will also miss the players very much, as they are quality young men. TSU will have a very good football team next fall.? Carr was a member of the Tiger staff for six seasons. He arrived on campus in 1997 and worked with the Tiger tight ends for two years, and the wide receivers for one season before assuming the offensive coordinator and quarterback duties in 2000. He is set to begin his new position March 17. ###
