Zekeya A. Harrison moved into the role of Assistant Athletics Director for Media Relations in 2014. As Director, Harrison oversees publicity of all 15 NCAA Division I Tiger athletic teams, the official website of TSU Athletics – tsutigers.com – sports publications and all aspects of media relations and sports information for TSU athletics.
Harrison is responsible for the daily office management, expenditures, operations and monetary functions of the Athletic Media Relations department. She also serves as a social media manager, assisting with the maintenance of the official Twitter, Facebook and Instagram pages for TSU Athletics.
As the primary contact for women’s basketball, Harrison executes all media relations efforts for the Lady Tiger program. She also serves as the secondary contact for football and tennis. Her responsibilities include but are not limited to coordinating with the media, credential production and distribution, publications, content management and game day operations.
Harrison serves as the department liaison for the Homecoming, John Merritt Classic and Campus Wide Public Relations committee.
In 2014, Harrison worked with the Ohio Valley Conference media relations staff at the Women’s Final Four in Nashville, Tenn.
She joined the staff at TSU in October 2006 as a Sports Information Coordinator, after serving as a graduate assistant in the department for two years. In her previous capacity, she served as the primary contact for the Tennessee State volleyball, women's basketball, softball and golf teams. She coordinated all media relations efforts, performed research, game day operations and assisted as needed with other sports. Additionally, she was on the official stat crew for the 2005 and 2006 Ohio Valley Conference basketball tournaments.
A native of St. Louis, Missouri, Harrison earned her bachelor's degree in arts and sciences from Tennessee State University in 2004. She received a master’s degree in Sports Administration two years later. During her undergraduate career at Tennessee State, Harrison was a four-year letterwinner for the Lady Tiger Basketball Program.
Harrison was a recipient of CoSIDA's Ethinic Minority grant in 2017 and was featured as a WoSIDA Woman to Watch in 2018. She earned TSU Young Alumni Network Forty Under 40 Honors in 2019.
Zekeya is married to Bryan Harrison.
