NASHVILLE --- Tennessee State women’s track and field All-American Amber Hughes (Atlanta, Ga.) has qualified for the NCAA Indoor Championships in the triple jump thanks to her performance in the regular season. Hughes will compete against the top 16 triple jumpers from around the nation at the NCAA Championships on March 10-11 in College Station, Texas.
Hughes, who has won OVC Indoor Track Athlete of the Year and OVC Indoor Field Athlete of the Year for the past two seasons, will be seeded eighth in the field with a qualifying distance of 13.44m (44’1.25”). Her mark came on Jan. 8 at the Ed Temple Classic at the Gentry Center.
