BRENTWOOD, Tenn. --- Tennessee State women’s track and field senior Amber Hughes (Atlanta, Ga.) continued her dominant season by earning adidas Ohio Valley Conference Co-Track Athlete of the Week, it was announced on Wednesday by the league office. For Hughes, it is her third weekly award from the OVC this season.
Hughes earned the distinction this week for her performance at the Vanderbilt Invitational last weekend. The All-American won the 60m hurdles with a personal record time of 8.27. The time ranks 17th in the nation this indoor season and is the best by an OVC runner on the year.
Hughes also placed third in the 200m at the Vanderbilt Invitational with an OVC-best time of 24.45.
Earlier this season, Hughes won OVC Field Athlete of the Week on Jan. 11 and OVC Track Athlete of the Week on Jan. 18.
The next competition for Hughes and the Tigerbelles is the MTSU Invite on Feb. 4 in Murfreesboro, Tenn.
