NASHVILLE --- All-American Amber Hughes (Atlanta, Ga.) won the 60m hurdles on the final day of the Vanderbilt Invitational to highlight the Tennessee State women’s track and field team’s performance at the Vanderbilt Multipurpose Facility on Saturday.
Hughes ran a time of 8.27 in the finals of the 60m hurdles to win the event. The senior’s time ranks her in the top 15 in the nation this indoor season. In the prelims, Hughes’ 8.34 was the top time entering the finals.
Cyra Beard (Jackson, Tenn.) also had a strong showing on Saturday, earning an eighth place finish in the triple jump thanks to a distance of 12.34m (40’6”).
In another field event, Daimer Gordon (Ellenwood, Ga.) had a toss of 12.31m (40’4.75”) in the shot put.
On the track, Kayla Pryor (Ellenwood, Ga.) completed the 800m in 2:19.48, and Christian Pryor (Ellenwood, Ga.) ran a time of 57.63 in the 400m. Raven Davis (Junction City, Kan.) clocked in at 7.88 for TSU’s top finish in the 60m.
Next on the schedule for TSU is the MTSU Invite in Murfreesboro, Tenn. on Feb. 4.
