BRENTWOOD, Tenn. --- Tennessee State women’s track and field All-American Amber Hughes (Atlanta, Ga.) was recognized for her standout performances to open the indoor season by earning Ohio Valley Conference Field Athlete of the Week, it was announced on Wednesday by the league office.
Hughes posted the best triple jump in the nation so far this indoor season, reaching 13.44m (44’1.25”) to take first place at the Ed Temple Classic. The previous best entering the day was 13.17m (43’2.5”) by Marie-Josee Ebwea-Bile of Kentucky.
Also at the Ed Temple Classic, Hughes came away with a long jump distance of 6.26m (20’6.5”) to tie for the fifth-best in the country this indoor season.
The Tigerbelles return to action for the Kentucky Invitational on Jan. 13 and 14 in Lexington, Ky.
