JACKSONVILLE, Fla. --- The Tennessee State women’s track and field team completed another day of action at the NCAA East Preliminary Round on Friday at Hodges Stadium. After a hot and sunny day one, Friday’s action featured clouds and rainy conditions for part of the day.
Competing for the second day in a row, Amber Hughes (Atlanta, Ga.) ran a time of 13.62 in the 100m hurdles. Her time secured fifth in her heat and 29th overall among the 48 competitors.
Friday also marked the first NCAA East Preliminary Round appearance for sophomore Cyra Beard (Jackson, Tenn.), who did not clear the high jump bar at 1.66m.
The meet will conclude tomorrow with Hughes and Amber Townsend (Atlanta, Ga.) in the triple jump and Hughes, Clarwin Dameus (Boynton Beach, Fla.), Kayla Pryor (Ellenwood, Ga.) and Christian Pryor (Ellenwood, Ga.) taking on the field in the 4x400m relay.
