ATLANTA – The Tennessee State women’s track and field team finished action at the Georgia Tech Invite on Saturday highlighted by the team’s performance in the field events.
Angel Davis (Decateur, Ga.) took home second place overall in the discus when her fifth toss sailed 44.43m (145’9”), which is her best distance this outdoor season.
Amber Townsend (Atlanta, Ga.) was TSU’s top performer in the triple jump, reaching 11.74m (38’6.25”) for eighth, while Cyra Beard (Jackson, Tenn.) was not far behind with a distance of 11.52m (37’9.5”).
In the high jump, I’mani Davis (Tulsa, Okla.), Sharmil Whyatt (Vilseck, Germany) and Beard all cleared the bar at 1.62m (5’3.75”), finishing tied for ninth.
On the track, Christian Pryor (Ellenwood, Ga.) completed the 800m in 2:15.15 to earn ninth place. The time is the best for Pryor this outdoor season. Mikayla Banks (Houston, Texas) had the top time for TSU in the 200m in 25.55.
In the finals of the 100m hurdles, Crystal Williams (Gainesville, Fla.) took sixth place and Clairwin Dameus (Boynton Beach, Fla.) earned seventh.
Next on the schedule is the Ohio Valley Conference Championship on May 13-14 at TSU.
