ABOUT  THE FIELD: TSU will be competing against student-athletes from Austin Peay, Murray State, Kentucky State, Tennessee Tech, Middle Tennessee, Fontbonne and Fisk.

LAST TIME OUT: Winning performances by senior Clairwin Dameus and junior Amber Hughes highlighted the Tennessee State women's track and field team's effort at the Vanderbilt Season Opener on Dec. 5. The Tigerbelles dominated the field in the 60m hurdles, capturing the top three slots. Hughes bested the other competitors with a winning time of 8.42. She was followed closely by junior Crystal Williams (8.59) and Dameus (8.67). For Williams, it was a personal record for the event.

LAST YEAR’S EVENT: At last season’s Ed Temple Classic, Amber Hughes paced the squad by winning four events: the 55m (7.04 seconds), 200m (24.60 seconds), triple jump (12.39 meters) and as part of the 4x400m relay (3:53.68).

Senior Diera Taylor, who was also a part of the first-place 4x400 team, finished with the top time in the 400m (59.85 seconds). In the throwing events, Angel Davis’ mark of 13.02m won the shot put.

AMONG THE BEST:  Through one event so far this season, Amber Hughes has posted the fourth-best 60m hurdles time in the nation (8.42).
