NASHVILLE, Tenn. - The Tennessee State women’s track and field team strengthen its local ties by signing Grenetria Shell (Nashville, Tenn.) to a National Letter of Intent during the early signing period. Shell currently competes for East Nashville Magnet High School and will enroll at TSU in the fall.
“We’re excited about Grenetria coming on board with us at Tennessee State,” TSU Director of Track and Field Chandra Cheeseborough-Guise commented. “She will do a great job for us in the multis. We’re excited to add another local student-athlete. Hopefully the door will open with her, and we can add more local athletes from the area.”
Shell, who is a senior, won the state title for the Class A-AA pentathlon as a junior in 2015 during the outdoor season. Some of her personal records in the various events include 14.9 seconds in the 100m hurdles, 18’5.25” in the long jump and 2:26.22 in the 800m.
Shell also competes for the Continental T-Belles Track Club, representing the squad at the 2015 USATF Tennessee Association Junior Olympic Track & Field Championships in Chattanooga, Tenn. in 2015.
