NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Tennessee State junior Clairwin Dameus earned Second Team All-American honors as announced by the U.S. Track &Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA). Fellow Tigerbelle Amber Hughes was named an Honorable Mention.
Dameus placed 11th in the long jump at the NCAA Outdoor National Championship and Hughes came in 20th place in the 100-meter hurdles.
Dameus had an amazing performance, and set a new personal-best with a 6.24 meter leap in the long jump. Unfortunately, the Boynton Beach, Fla. native finished near the middle of the pack as Alabama’s Quanesha Burks won the event with a 6.91 meter hop.
Hughes ran a tick slower than she did in the East Preliminary, clocking a 13.31 second performance in the 100-meter hurdles. The sophomore did manage to best competitors from powerhouses TCU, Houston and Arkansas.
