NASHVILLE --- The Tennessee State women’s tennis team suffered a 7-0 Ohio Valley Conference loss to SIU-Edwardsville Friday afternoon at Hadley Park.

SIUE’s doubles teams kicked off the afternoon with a quick win on court one, defeating duo Aarushi Kakkar and Morgan Cage, 6-3. Vying for the doubles point, the Tigers pushed for a 6-5 lead on court three, and forced the Cougars into an extra game, down 6-5 on court one. Claudia Sole and Pragati Natraj fell to SIUE on court two, allowing the Cougars to clinch the match, leaving the match on court three with Abhilasha Vishwanath and Mackenzie Beckham unfinished, as TSU was up 6-6 (2-1).

The momentum from the win led SIUE through singles play as they swept the Tigers, leaving the Tigers with a 5-10, 0-4 OVC record after the day.

“Resilience is something we have to exude in every single match,” said Coach Oredugba. “Our game is mental and we have to know that and play better.”

The women’s team joins the men tomorrow, April 6 at Hadley Park to take on Eastern Illinois with first serve set for 9 a.m.
