Alabama A&M Pushes Past Women's Tennis, 4-3

NASHVILLE --- In a heartbreaking 4-3 loss to Alabama A&M Sunday afternoon in the Hadley Park Bubble, Tennessee State's women's tennis team is now 5-8, 0-2 OVC on the season. 

The Tigers made an impressive run in doubles, clinching the point after two wins at No. 1 and 3. Pragati Natraj and Claudia Sole defeated the Bulldogs, 6-4, before freshman Mackenzie Beckham and senior Abhilasha Vishwanath finished out doubles play, 6-2, giving TSU a 1-0 lead moving into singles play. 

A&M's Jasmine Boyd took the first singles point of the afternoon, defeating Natraj at No. 2, 6-1, 6-2. Tied 1-1, Aarushi Kakkar easily put Big Blue back in the lead, recording another No.1 victory, 6-1, 6-1. 

Mackenzie Beckham dropped her match on court three, bringing the overall score to 2-2. 

The Bulldogs clinched the match with the next two matches on courts, 3 and six before newcomer Claudia Sole finished it out with a victory at No. 5, 6-3, 6-4.

The Tigers head to SEMO for its next match on March 29 with first serve set for 1 p.m.
