NASHVILLE --- The Tennessee State women’s tennis team fell to Belmont on Thursday afternoon by a 6-1 score. Pragati Natraj scored the only point for TSU in the match.

“The women played well today,” TSU Head Coach Monroe Walker III said. “Gati played great at No. 5. She is leading the team in wins in conference play. Hemphill was very close today. She never gave up and lost in a tight third set. Abhi was also very close. If she scores a couple more points she wins her match. We need to get prepared for our next match on Saturday.”

TSU (8-8, 0-8 OVC) trailed as Belmont (4-15, 2-6 OVC) took the doubles point. Natraj’s singles victory came in straight sets by scores of 7-6, 6-0 at No. 5. She has had stellar play at the No. 5 position this season.

Abhilasha Viswanath dropped a three set thriller at No.4 losing the final set 11-9. Phyllicia Hemphill gave her all at the No. 6 position as she also fell in three sets losing set three 10-7.

The Tigers will play Jacksonville State Saturday morning at 11 am.
