OPENING SERVE: 

The TSU women’s tennis team host back-to-back home matches this weekend. Tennessee State will take on SIUE on Friday, Mar. 31 at 12:00 pm. The Tigers will follow that up with a match against the Panthers of Eastern Illinois on Saturday Apr. 1 at 10:00 am.

LAST TIME OUT: 

UT Martin (7-3, 3-0 OVC) led TSU (6-4, 0-4 OVC) the entire way, earning the doubles point before taking all six singles matches in straight sets.

Freshman Ashia Jones played a tightly-contested match at No. 3 singles, falling to Burcu Tari, 6-3, 7-6(5).  In another back-and-forth match, Abhilasha Vishwanath fell at her No. 4 slot by a 4-6, 6-4, 10-5 score.

ABOUT SIU EDWARDSVILLE:

The Cougars come into the match boasting the conference best record at 13-0 overall and 3-0 in conference play. Morgan Steffes and Tiffany Hollebeck both have 17 registered singles wins this season. Hollebeck teamed up with Mia Frogner for a team high 17-1 record in doubles this season

ABOUT EASTERN ILLINOIS: 

Eastern Illinois dropped its last match 4-3 to Eastern Kentucky. The Panthers are 9-6 this season. Two student-athletes are tied for a team high 10 singles wins. EIU has a 1-2 record in conference play to date.

UP NEXT: The Tigers will head to Huntsville, Ala. to take on the Bulldogs of Alabama A & M on Apr. 6 at 11:00 am.
