Women's Tennis Hits the Road for Two Conference Matches

OPENING SERVE: 

The TSU women’s tennis team hits the road for two straight matches this weekend. Tennessee State will head to Cape Girardeau, MO for a match with Southeast Missouri on Friday, Mar. 24 at 12:00 pm. The Tigers will then take a short trip to Martin, Tenn. to face the Skyhawks of UT Martin on Sunday Mar. 26 at 1:00 pm.

LAST TIME OUT: 

The Tigers dropped a 6-1 decision to the Murray State Racers. Pragati Natraj earned the Tigers a win at her No. 5 singles slot defeating Sara Bjork 6-2, 6-3.  Ani Popiashvili fought hard at No. 1 singles before falling in straight sets. Popiashvili lost by the same 6-4 score in each set.

ABOUT SEMO:

The Redhawks are 0-1 in conference play and 8-4 overall this season. Oleksandra Doroshenko leads the team with 10 singles wins so far this spring. Mary Beth Gunn is in her second season as the head of the tennis program.

ABOUT UT MARTIN: 

UT Martin are winners of their last five matches and sport a 1-0 record in conference play. Two Skyhawks are tied for five singles wins this spring. In doubles action three different pairs of UT Martin players have four wins apiece.

UP NEXT: The Tigers will start a three game home-stand starting with SIUE at Hadley Park on Mar. 31 at 12:00 pm.
